We are a group that was set up to provide food support during the covid-19 crisis operating from St Davids and extending out to a 16 mile radius.
The St Davids & Solva Food Pod started in June 2020 and has been providing vital food aid to local families on the peninsular since then.
The Food Pod provides free, nutritionally balanced, tinned and dried food (sometimes fresh food) to those who need it. This might include people who have been hit by an unexpected financial crisis, such as redundancy, unexpected bills or the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
We all work together for everyone.

Make a DonationThe Covid-19 Crisis
When the pandemic began we realised that many people had been left with no support, no work and no benefits. Here in North Pembrokeshire, work is heavily reliant on the tourist industry and with pubs and restaurants closed people were unable to feed themselves. Many were self employed and received no official help either. We also discovered significant numbers of pensioners who were unable to access food for a number of reasons, and may have been having these problems for a long time. The pandemic actually made visible a number of different issues that lead to lack of food for significant numbers in our communities.
We organised into a free food aid service, providing fresh food and basic staples to last a week. We went on to provide food boxes to individuals and families as long as they needed them. We are supported entirely by donations, and are not part of any government or council service.
We were able to provide the food aid because of series of generous financial donations, smaller financial donations and a series of small grants from private donors, PAVS, Fishguard Town Council, The Round Table and The Penknife Club among others. We are still totally reliant on donations of food and money to maintain our support of these households. The Food Pod packing runs from the vestry of the Tabernacle Chapel in St Davids, and we are very grateful for their support and warm welcome.
